The Ural Winter is Coming…

January 10th, 2012 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Copies of The Ural Winter are currently being posted to all who were involved in the project including everyone who was in the audience on the day the album was recorded.

Feedback from those who have received the album has been overwhelming. Thank you all for your kind, kind words.

If you haven’t received your copy yet, it is either on its way to you or in my “To do” which I am working through as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

The album will be released in April.

Hi folks,

So, if you were at The Ural Winter album recordings last year you’ll be receiving a little something from me in the very near future. If you weren’t there you may have a little longer to wait, but hopefully not too much longer!

In the mean time here are a few kind words about the album by Stuart Bailie. He previewed the album’s title track on his show on Monday night and you hear that on the BBC iPlayer.

Thank you for your patience.

Much love,

Tom

Two Live Reviews

May 12th, 2011 Posted in Reviews | No Comments »

Here are a couple of nice reviews of a show I played I few weeks ago at the launch of the wonderful Morning Claws’ (ex Cutaways) debut single.

Here’s a BBC review for ATL by William Johnston.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/atl/review_specific399872.shtml
“Like a more melancholy, late night Richard Hawley, McShane shares his gift of story telling and character creation”.

And here’s a Redeemer Central review by Leah Gallant.
http://www.redeemercentral.com/the_collective/article/in_the_city_morning_claws/
“Even dreamier and maybe even sadder [than] Death Cab for Cutie… Tom’s voice is not unlike Ben Gibbard’s but still unique”.

Thank you both so much for your kind, kind words.

Scratch My Music Performance at Oh Yeah

April 12th, 2011 Posted in Interviews, Uncategorized, gigs | No Comments »

Hi all! I’ll be performing at the latest Scratch My Music event in the Oh Yeah music centre on Gordon St tonight (Tuesday 12th April). The idea behind Scratch My Music is that songwriters/bands perform a selection of songs with an interview between each song to explore their song writing process. The guest interviewer on Tuesday will be one of my oldest and dearest friend, Rigsy O’Reilly (ATL). Questions will come also from the audience.

To say I’m nervous about this is an understatement but as with most things in life that terrify me, I think it’s best to embrace the challenge. With that in mind, if there are any of my songs you would like explored at the event, please email me and I’ll try to add them to the set list.

The event will be preceded by a Demo Doctor session, where young artists will have a chance to have their demos critiqued by a panel of industry professionals.

The event will take place in the Oh Yeah Cafe between 19.00 & 21.00. It’d be really nice to see some friendly faces.

After Midnight with Joe Lindsay

December 19th, 2010 Posted in Recording, Uncategorized, news | No Comments »

You can hear a preview of one of the tracks from my forthcoming album on BBC Radio Ulster’s After Midnight with Joe Lindsay. My good buddy Davy Matchett joined Joe on the show to discuss their highlights of 2010. Listen to the whole show, it’s awesome stuff and I’m somewhere around 1hour 41mins.

You can listen here for the next seven days: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00cl7cg

Hope you enjoy!
